Ethiopian Visitors

"On the 22nd September 2009, St Stephens in Bath had a couple of Ethiopian visitors. Whilst we were waiting, Mrs Dangerfield taught us an African round about a vulcher. At the beginning, we just learntwords. When they came in they said that their names were Binian, who was a child and Balayanh, who was an adult.

You're probably wondering what our links is with Ethiopia... It is that we always are doing charities to raise money for a school in Ethiopia. they said some facts for us to write down like this...

  • The population was 80,000,000 in Africa.
  • They export things like coffee, gold and animals.
  • They speak 85 different languages.
  • The men never work in the kitchens - if they were single, they would get Maids to do it.
  • 13 Months = 1 Year.
  • Their currency is called "birr" and £1 = 20birr.
  • Their New Year is the 11th September.

When they pick coffee, they have to... clean, wash, roast with pan and ground or crush it. Once they have done that, they invite their neighbours around and then share it. They can not have it without others. All baskets were made by women.

We asked some questions and these are a few of them.

Q: In school do they teach sport?
A: Yes, but you have to learn it at home for a hobby
Q: Do men hunt?
A: No, women get it from the shops.
Q: What do you drink, except for coffee?
A: Water, beer, alcohol, coke and fanta.
Q: Are there any endangered animals?
A: No.
They taught us some African words and there are them.
Thank you
Amanca ano
Goodbye
